Cooperstown to Niagara Falls

After a week here at the Cooperstown All Star Village, it was time for checkout. And I must say, checking out I felt like a veteran of the place opposed to the lost guy a week earlier at check in.

A quick side note to the night before. We were all going to watch the Championship game which was supposed to start at 9:30 Wednesday night. But rain came in, a lot of it, along with a bunch of lightning forcing the delay to go longer and longer. The weather finally cleared and the semi finals were played at 11:30 p.m and the championship game started at 1:45 a.m. and didn't end until a little after 3:30 a.m. So needless to say I did not make it to watch those games. But, the team we lost to ended up winning it all. So that's a little feather in our hat.

Checkout was easy, the boys wheeled their suitcases and everything out, we walked to the car and away were went. Goodbye All Star Village, I wouldn't anticipate being back, but if I was ever invited or had a reason to go I would certainly do it again.

For Lukas and I, we got in the car and headed west through the small towns of upstate NY through Syracuse, passing the International Boxing Hall of Fame, and finally ending up at Niagara Falls. Although, Lukas didn't see much of the small little towns as he fell asleep about 5 minutes into the drive. The exhaustion of the week caught up with him.

We checked into our hotel nearby and then drove to the Falls area, about a mile away. We walked all around the park, near the Horseshoe Falls, Bridal Falls, the American Falls, and then we decided to be like Bruce Almighty and take the Maid of the Mist tour.

The falls are impressive from any angle, but from down on the water you can really feel and hear the power of the falls. Plus, made for much better photos.

To cap off the day we went to the Anchor Bar, the restaurant that first created Buffalo Wings. So as a chicken wing fan, we had to go try the wings.
