Travel Day to Lake Placid

Sometime you know it's early in the morning. Like, the sun isn't up yet, or, not many cars on the road. You know you're up really early when the newspaper hasn't even been delivered and the overnight work crews on the freeway are still working away.

That's how early we had to get up. 6:00 a.m. flight from SFO, meant being there just before 5:00 a.m., meant leaving the house around 4:00, meant getting up around 3:30 a.m. But we did it, up early, out the door and made it in plenty of time for our flight.

Ellie and I flew from SFO to Chicago, then onto Albany. And if you know our history with Albany airport, nothing was guaranteed. But we arrived on time. Bags arrived on time. So getting into Albany was nice and easy.

We stayed the night at a hotel near the airport, then grabbed the shuttle to the Training Center on Sunday, along with a few other girls who had flown in Sunday morning.

A little over 2 hours from Albany to Lake Placid on the shuttle, but we're all checked in and everyone is starting to filter in. Ellie was excited to see her luge friends, and it will be fun to see how the new girls and the older girls all mesh together since this is the first time they've all been together for a training.

I'll work on posting photos and some video as the week goes on and report anything newsworthy.

A quick weather update. It's currently 10 degrees, but beautiful, clear, blue skies. Perfect, as long as you're inside looking out the window. Not sure I'll use the word perfect during the week when I'm out in the middle of it.
