End of October

Happy Halloween (almost)! The end of October is here, and you can definitely tell because it's getting dark a little earlier and it's a little chilly in the mornings.

But October is also the best sports month of the year. Football is in full swing, and this year the Niners sit at 5-1 and so much fun to watch. Amazing what a good coach can do. Jim Harbaugh has already built something pretty special and he's only had the team for really 3 months. October also means the Fall Classic, and although the the TV ratings for the most part don't reflect it, mostly because of the teams involved, but the Rangers and Cardinals are playing a great Series, and Game 6 last night was a CLASSIC!! Down 2 in the 9th the Cards game back to tie. Josh Hamilton homered, so down 2 in the 10th, they came back to tie. Just a great game 6, and since the Cards won, we get one of the best things in sports, a Game 7. College football is cruising. Hockey is underway. October is such a sports-fans dream.

On the homefront, Ellie is still enjoying school. And I would have a school picture to post, but when I picked up her pictures yesterday they gave me pictures of the wrong kid. I don't know if they switched them, or what. So we're waiting for school pictures. In the meantime, here is a recent one.

And just for good measure, here is one of Lukas.

And not to be forgotten is the high schooler. Who as you can see has a new activity. She's part of the Varsity Cheerleading Competition Team.

Gymnastics 4-hours a day, 5-days a week was just getting to be too much with the amount of homework she had and all the work required from her AP classes, so she's transitioning to being a cheerleader. In addition to the games, she part of the squad that goes around to the competitions on weekends. A quick funny story on how it all came about. Her friends that are on the team were telling her she needed to join the cheer team because they needed a good tumbler, and Katelyn had already thought about scaling back on gymnastics. She told them she would be interested in trying out for the team next year, but her friends went to the coach, showed her some of Katelyn's YouTube videos, like this one:

and the coach wanted to meet with her the next day. So Karin and Katelyn went to meet with the coach, and by the end of the meeting Katelyn was on the team. So she'll earn herself a Varsity Letter. Pretty cool.

Finally, thanks to Southwest for doing some $39 fares. We jumped on a couple of those and have our next Disneyland trip planned!
