Last couple days.
We moved hotels from the outskirts of Chicago to right downtown. And we were on the 44th floor, and for Cesar and Lukas who are afraid of heights, this was entertaining.
We dropped the bags in the room and headed towards the trains station. We took the L up to Wrigley, and similar to the Yankees in NY, the train dropped you just a block away from the stadium. Wrigley was awesome. It lived up to everything people say about it. It has all the history of being around for 100+ years, but it's been modernized and upgraded so the walkways in and around the stadium are nice, mostly brick, and the seats are legit stadium seats, not the wooden relics of Fenway. We sat down the LF line, and again got lucky with the shade, as about the 2nd inning our seats were covered. But the heat wasn't nearly as bad as it was in Minnesota, but still, the shade was better than the sun. It was perfect weather day in Chicago, the exact opposite of two days ago at the White Sox game. The game was over way too quick, it was nearly the fastest MLB game of the season. A full 9 innings in less than 2 hours. 1-0 Cubs win. Not many hits overall and the O's made it spicy in the 9th and nearly tied it with a blast to deep LF corner that ended up being caught, otherwise it was ab out to be tied. I could have used another 30-40 minutes of the game, just to enjoy everything.
Food at the stadium. Hot dog and a beer.
After the game we hung around the stadium, as did MANY of the 40,000 fans that were at the game. They have a huge outdoor plaza with live music, games, drinks, etc. It is also where the Cubs have the statues of their most famous players, including Ryne Sandberg who had died just days before. The game we attended was the first since he passed, and they did a nice tribute, brought back some old teammates, even showed when he sang Take Me Out To The Ballgame the year prior.Took the train back downtown. Grabbed Portillo's Chicago dogs for dinner (amazing) and planned out our final day.
