All fall Ellie really loved going to school. She had no trouble getting up in the morning, she was talkative on the drive to school, she would hang-up her bag and go play as soon as we got here. But lately that’s all changed. She’s been very clingy when we try and drop her off. Each evening she says she’s going to miss us too much and doesn’t want to go to school. So it’s been tough getting her too school (I thought it was supposed to be tough at the beginning and get easier as the year went on?).
And it’s strange, because now that Lukas is going to the
same school I thought for sure she’d snap out of it. I’m hoping it is just a
phase, but we’ll see. We even had our parent-teacher conference and the teacher
said she is doing really well. And the teacher who is with her in the afternoon
says Ellie is fine in the afternoon. UGH, the joys of preschool.
In other news, Katelyn’s cheerleading team went to Nationals
in Las Vegas
and won. So she is a National Champion. She has the jacket to prove it too.
Ellie has started t-ball, which she enjoys. I’m just one of
the parent helpers, so I help at practice when needed. Otherwise I stand to the
side and laugh. Having never coached at this level, and forgetting what it is
like to even watch them, I’m finding it very funny. When there is a groundball
every fielder running to try and get it. Then it turns into a dogpile. Kids
hitting the ball off the tee and not running, or when they do run, they run
with the bat in their hand. When they run the bases, you just cross your
fingers that they go to the right base. Very amusing!
Lukas is full throttle in the crawling department and changing
his diaper has become almost a two person event. He’s so strong and wants to
roll over and start moving that someone has to distract him, or at times just
pin him down, in order to get his diaper on. It’s a full contact sport.
Other tidbits…St. Mary’s won the WCC and then won the WCC
Tourny, so they are dancing in the NCAAs…We finished the playroom!...Grandma
Audrey is moving out to Oakdale. Who would have ever thought that Oakdale would
be the family destination? Strange.
