Ellie finished up her first season of t-ball on Friday
night. Her team got to play one inning on the “Big Field”, and along with the
Big Field comes the announcing of their names when they came to bat. I was
appointed that duty, and I gave it my best Harry Doyle impersonation.
After the game were the closing ceremonies and Ellie got
a trophy, which she was ecstatic about. She thought on top of the TV was the best
place to display her new award.
Overall the season was a success. After a tough couple
weeks in the middle, with her not being sure if she wanted to play anymore. She
finished off in style and showed great improvement. As did all the kids. In
fact, that was a regular comment in the stands between parents.
Saturday Steph was supposed to work, but got an early
morning call telling her that they were plenty staffed and that she didn’t need
to come in. Which was good news because it allowed for a little more sleep.
Saturday was filled with yard work and house cleaning, and it was also plenty
warm enough to play out in the backyard with the new water table toy.
Katelyn is counting down the days left in her junior year. But she is already getting her senior year off to a fabulous start. She was named one of the captains for her cheerleading team for next year. Needless to say she's excited!
Getting ready for The Avengers |
Ellie has been on this superhero kick. She’s been watching Spiderman and Iceman on Netflix, and running around talking about Iron Man. So with all that, I took her to see The Avengers. The first showing was at 10:00, and since there weren’t many people there, it allowed her to thrust her arm in the air like Thor every time he used his hammer to summon the lightning. She also clapped very loud when the Hulk saved Iron Man. She seemed to really enjoy it, at least the action parts. The beginning, setting up the story and before the super heroes really took center stage, she was a little antsy, but once the flying around started and The Hulk went into Hulk-mode she was all in! It helped to have a little popcorn and candy to get her through the “boring” parts.
Lukas tested the strength of his forehead on the coffee
table, and there isn’t much doubt as to who won.
I must say, the knock on the noggin didn’t seem to faze him. He cried for about 30 seconds and then wanted to get moving and back to playing. The knot gave him a bruise that Rocky Balboa would be proud of, but like I said, he just kept playing for the rest of the night. In fact he went a little craz-o. Chasing Ellie, laughing really loud and just being totally silly.
So that was the weekend. Monday came around and I broke
my shoe. So that was my first indication that the fun was over. Now back to the
grind.
