Spring to Summer

We nearly sprung right over spring.

Ellie on the Pink Thunder
Ellie played her first year of PAL Softball. Although she could have played at the t-ball level she played up at the Farm level and did really well. So well in fact that she’s on the U8 Sparks C Team. It’s a developmental traveling team. Not as high as the B team, which is really, really good, but still a team made up of players all with above average talent and a strong desire to play softball. Plus, she still has 2 more years at this level.

Finley was a cool house guest
We celebrated Easter out in Oakdale, and also were out there for the Annual Bocce Ball tournament. Both events were fun and we had a tag-a-long for the bocce ball trip. The little tootsie roll known as Finley joined us as Mike and Adrianna were down in Disneyland getting engaged.

May turned busy quickly as we tried to get everything in place before we took off for a week to Maui for Steve and Shannon’s wedding. But prior to the wedding was the Pre-wedding party. A day of golf for the guys, capped off with dinner and bocce ball with everyone. A good time was had by all.

Easter Egg hunt
I’m going to save the Maui update for a separate posting.

We are now in the homestretch for Ellie and 1st grade. She’s done pretty well this year. Progressed a lot, and has developed a pretty strong enjoyment of reading. As long as the book is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or Superheroes she’s locked in.

Steph and Ellie also were able to take a quick Disneyland trip during Spring break, leaving Lukas and I to hold down the fort. Which was OK. I thought he’d be more of a handful when he found out that Ellie was in Disneyland and he didn’t get to go, but he was OK. It sounded like a really good girls’ trip.

Summer plans are starting to firm up. We’ll be making our trip up to Lake Almanor for the 4th of July, then doing another week in August, the week after summer school ends and before the start of 2nd grade. We also have an October Disneyland trip planned. Ellie has parent-teacher conferences in October and has a week of half days. So with minimal work and learning being done this week, we will take advantage of one of the first conferences then heading south. And with it being off season, hopefully the crowds will be low. We’ll see.

Ellie will be at St. Justin’s for Summer School and Summer Camp, along with softball through early July.  Lukas will be doing his usual thing at Action Day. He’ll be able to move to St. Justin’s as soon as he’s potty trained, which looks like it is not gonna happen anytime soon.
