Summer, Summer, Summertime

“Here it is the groove slightly transformed
Just a bit of a break from the norm
Just a little somethin' to break the monotony…”

Sorry Fresh Prince, there is no monotony going on this summer.

Happy 3rd Birthday Lukas!!!
After kicking off summer with Steve and Shannon’s wedding in Maui, we returned for a couple weeks of craziness at home, starting off with Lukas’ third birthday. We returned to the mainland the day before his birthday and were able to have a couple dinners and cakes over the next couple of days. He enjoyed the attention.

2nd Place in their 1st Tournament
Ellie’s softball was in full swing during the month of June, and what a brand new world it is. This isn’t your regular softball, this is hardcore. For our tournament in early June, we had three games on Saturday, starting at 8:00 a.m. and then returned Sunday for single elimination bracket round. Day one, not so good. We got beat pretty good by some very good teams. So Sunday was a very unexpected surprise, we won a couple games and went to the Championship of the Silver bracket (all the really good teams were in the gold bracket, including the Sparks B team. We are the Sparks C team). Both the Sparks teams played in the championship games of their brackets. And even though we lost in the championship, it was an awesome experience.

Since that first tournament we’ve had a few other tournaments and weekend friendly triple-headers, and we are now a week away from the conclusion of the tournament season. It’s amazing how far the girls have come and looking forward to next year is really exciting.

Fun times
We did take a break and made our way up to Lake Almanor for our annual 4th of July get away. It was nice and relaxing. We got a chance to checkout the new apartment over the garage, and spent a lot of time on and in the water. It was a small crowd at the house, just Kristin and the kids, along with us and M&D.
Even got time to golf.

Cube explosion for the birthday
Cousin sharing
And the birthday has also come and gone. Work went all out with the decorations and the breakfast food. I certainly work with a group of fun-loving people. That night we went to Fogo with Steve & Shannon, Mike & Adriana and we attempted to eat our weight in meat. Not sure we did that, but we gave it a good effort. We must have come close because everyone went home beyond stuff. Bordering on miserable. Good time!

Steph and I celebrated our 12 year anniversary with dinner and drinks and the idea of doing an add on to the house. More to come soon.

All alone in the Stadium
Summer Scamper
Ellie and Steph joined Marisa, Jig and Leah for the Summer Scamper at Stanford. And while they were running, Lukas and I found an open gate and made our way inside an empty Stanford Stadium. It was pretty cool!
