Hey! Where did May go?

I was going to start this blog entry by discussing the plans for May. Then I looked at the calendar and it's June 1st. Somehow I missed May yet I'm totally exhausted.

The end of the school year is approaching, so year-end activities are in full swing. Halfday here, activity there, party here, picnic there.

2015 Farm Fireballs
The rec softball season ended, which means the softball actually moves into hyperdrive now with the tournament season. But before we look forward to the Sparks, it's nice to look back at the Fireballs. The Fireballs were awesome this year. A truly great group of girls and parents. The girls progressed and won more then they lost. The only thing this team did more than win is go to Pizza. We had a great partner in Golden Mushroom Pizza who threw us two pizza parties and always treated the girls like they were MVPs. Thanks to Golden Mushroom for making this year an awesome year for the Fireballs.
Ellie and BFF Olivia after the ceremony

Cousins picture.
Ellie received first communion in the early part of the month, although it seems like 6 months ago. Steph's parents flew in for the festivities and we had a nice lunch following Mass. Father Chris did a nice job with the whole ceremony, including sitting with the kids on the floor near the alter and talking with them just prior to receiving communion.

Mike celebrated his bachelor party at Lake Almanor. And without going into too much gory detail I think the weekend was a success. We golfed Bailey Creek and The Country Club, and played 5 rounds in 4 days, it was quite the golf-a-palooza. There was also plenty of gambling and BBQing, and a few stories were shared.

The Annual Lake Almanor Golf Tournament was a success, despite the pouring down rain one afternoon. I was partnered with George Cintas and we had a great time. I think it showed that Raider and Niner fans can get along when they focus on a common goal. However, we didn't come close to winning. Dad and Eddie took home the trophy and title. We'll see how it goes next year. We'll see if I can make the playoffs.

After 6 months of practice Ellie performed her Hip Hop Routine at the Santa Clara Community Center. Not to be out done, Stephanie had her tap dance performance as well.

Now, back to the present day. We are three weeks into the travel softball season, and the Sparks just finished their 1st tournament. They took 3rd place, losing in the Semifinals to West Valley 5-4 int he bottom of the last inning. Ellie did well, she played 3rd base most of the time and a couple innings at catcher. She also got a homerun, which had her smiling from ear to ear. She caught a fly ball at third and doubled off the run at first, and she also caught a foul pop up while playing catcher. Overall it was a fun weekend, exhausting but fun. And since only one team can end on a victory if you're not that team it can be a bitter finish. The girls were devastated when that winning run slid home in the last inning, and there were tears on the bench for sure. But they get to turn around quickly and give it another shot at the Foster City Tournament this coming weekend.

As you can see, they had a great time.
