California is engulfed in wildfires currently, and with that the
air quality has been pretty poor. So poor as a matter of fact that the kids’
soccer games got cancelled, which was a bummer since it was Lukas’ last one of
the year. But a free Saturday seemed odd, what to do, what to do?
We went to breakfast, then to Dicks Sporting Goods, filled up with
gas and ran a couple errands, but it was still only noon. Stopped by Cesar and
Isela’s house to see what they were doing, and they were in the same “we’re
lost with no sports.” So we got in the car and started to drive. We ended up on
280 headed north and I text my friend Scott Pastorino to see if on the off
chance he was at his farm in Half Moon Bay. As luck would have it, he was.
So we ventured up to Pastorino’s Farm. Got there and let the kids
run wild. Got a hay ride and a train ride. Rode ponies and petted bunnies and
pigs. It was a fun, unexpected outing and the kids got a kick out of it.
I got to catch up with Scott. And he gave us a recommendation for
dinner. So we hit dinner at the Half Moon Bay harbor before heading back home.
No sports on Saturday turned into a fun little adventure.
