RV Adventure: Disneyland

We ventured down to Disneyland for a getaway, and it was the meshing of a number of things. One, the kids were on their ski week break; it was a chance to take the RV on an adventure and see how we all did living in there for a week; it was Steph’s birthday.

So, we teamed up with Cesar, Isela, Liv and Diego, along with Sienna Roper, for a trip down to the Happiest Place on Earth. For us, we left right after Lukas’ football game, and before we even got out of the Mitty parking lot, we had an issue. A small piece inside the side door broke, making opening the door nearly impossible. Not impossible, but nearly.

I had an idea to make it work once we got down to Disneyland. I didn’t want to mess with the door prior to the 6-hour drive. You know, didn’t want it to fly open Griswold style. So I waited, and then when I got down there I started working on it. At that point I made it 99% impossible to open, so we were regulated to having to go out the driver or passenger door. Had we been camping, and going in and out a lot, I would have spent more time fixing it, but because we were leaving at 8:00 a.m. and not coming back until late in the evening, we dealt with the door.

The next issue that popped up was an alarm system. Because we hadn’t used the RV in a while, and certainly not the heater, the propane alarm kept going off whenever we tried to use the heater, so more blankets and sleeping bags it was.

Quickly two things to add to the repair list when we got back.
But the drive down was great, no issues. Made lunch on the road, kids relaxed and even slept in the back for a while.

Notice Cesar clinging to the seat with his right hand. HA
As for Disneyland, it was awesome. A bit crowded because of the Presidents’ Day Holiday, but not outrageous, and certainly manageable enough if you knew how to attack the day (MaxPass, when to eat, where to eat, which rides we could get on quickly, etc.).

Before we get to the big highlight, there were too many funny things not to post. Cesar getting on the swinging cart on Mickey's Fun Wheel. It took a few beers, but he did it, and it did not disappoint....me. It was some of the funniest stuff all week. Diego helped by teasing Cesar with the barf bag.

Steph being intimidated by Darth Vader was funny. Again, it hurt my ribs laughing so much.

Darth had some funny words for Steph.

We also got a chance to walk through the Snow White ride when it broke down midway through. So me, Cesar, Lukas and Diego got to walk through the ride. Something you don't get to do every trip.

Also got a chance to meet Chewy!

And we also were surprised, at least the kids were, by the arrival of the Brady family on Thursday. They drove down late Wednesday and met us in California Adventure. A fun surprise for sure!
More fun people!

The highlight for me, and probably all the adults, was dinner at Club 33 for Steph’s birthday. Thanks to Cousin Mike for setting it up for us, and Steph was greeted with Club 33 Mickey Ears, a souvenir that will be a keepsake for a long time! The dinner, amazing! Everything from the amuse busch to start, to the crab claw appetizer, the salad (although I had the soup), the pallet cleanser was a hit, the steak cooked perfect. A super amazing night. And, we stayed long enough to close down not only the restaurant, but Disneyland as a whole. So that was a fun experience.

The amuse busch was amusing

3rd course, scallop. There was also a ravioli.

We stayed long enough eating and drinking, we were the last ones there.

A completely empty Main St.
If only we could have just stayed.
