Soccer in Paso Robles. Huge Fun. Sad Ending

Near the end of the Spring soccer season Ellie told us that she didn't think she wanted to play soccer in the fall, that she wanted to tryout for an A ball softball team.

We supported her choice, and told her how much we enjoyed watching her play soccer, and that she'd have to tell Coach John. So during the last practice of the year, just before the end of the year tournament she told John, who has been the only soccer coach she has ever had. He was bummed, but understood where she wanted to take her athletic career.

The team traveled down to Paso Robles for a tournament, and of course we took advantage of taking the RV.

It was a beautiful area. The RV park was very nice. Pool, spa, plenty of grass space, good spots for RVs, everything you could need. We were 5 minutes from the soccer fields, so between games we made sure to pack in enough fun - like dinner and beer tasting at Firestone and wine tasting all around. Including a place that was up on a hill with breathtaking views, and pretty fine wine.

And on Sunday, after the final game, John announced to the team that Ellie had put on her shin guards for the last time. She had been playing soccer, and for John, since she was tiny, probably before 1st grade. And now the final whistle had sounded. So while it was a sad ending to see her soccer career come to an end, it was a great trip and fun way to finish.

Even the kids got to visit the winery.
