Snyder Winery is a small winery just outside of Twin Falls, ID, and it made for a nice final night of the trip. When we arrived we were greeted by Claudia, the owner of the winery. Steph and I sat on the deck of the tasting room and did a wine tasting. We bought a few bottles, the Chardonnay was the best in my opinion, and began the final 24 hours of the trip.
The initial itinerary had us stopping in Reno or Loomis, which would have been about a 6-7 hour drive, almost 500 miles, making it the longest drive of the trip.
We let the winery around 8:30 a.m. and went to Shoshone Falls, which were very impressive. Making them more impressive, was how tucked away they were. I was expecting something like Yosemite where you are at the bottom and look up at the falls, but these falls were in a canyon along the Snake River and you saw them from the top.
Then it was on the road again. The plan was to drive until I either go tired or it started to get dark. This was probably the most boring day of driving in terms of things to look at or see, Eastern Nevada was pretty barren and boring. So it was a straight shot through Jackpot, Elko and Winnemucca. We got to Reno at 4:30 and felt good, so we just kept going. Got to Loomis just under 2 hours later, felt good, so we just kept going.
Before you knew it we were passing the San Jose airport and arriving back in Santa Clara about 9:00 p.m. 12 hours of driving, 3 gas stops, 702 miles. That's the tale of the tape for the final day.
