RV Trip. Ohio to CA. Travel Day 3

One thing to note, both in Illinois and Iowa, the bugs in the Midwest are no joke. Giant, man eating mosquitoes in Illinois, and smaller mosquitoes but bigger flies in Iowa.

New co-pilot in the morning
We woke up rested and ready to go with a new co-pilot. The plan was for a full day driving to the middle of South Dakota, which would give us a shorter, easier drive the next day towards Mt. Rushmore. We drove through the rest of Iowa, still lots of corn, then into South Dakota.

We've stopped for gas once each day, and the prices are about $2.04. I've seen a few $1.99 at places off the highway, but we didn't really need gas at that point.

The landscape of South Dakota started to change. No longer the flat-as-can-be plains of Iowa, there were now small rolling hills, still very green, and some, but less, fields of corn.

South Dakota has some interesting sites. One of the original General Lee cars from Dukes of Hazzard is at the Pioneer Car Museum. We passed the Lewis and Clark Welcome center that had a large statue of Sacagawea. We passed over the Missouri River. We also stopped in Mitchell, SD for groceries and to see the Corn Palace. A huge  building with the outside of the building made of different types of corn forming different designs and words. Certainly different.

First driving experience, and RV. Interesting.
And since roads were so straight, we let a new driver get behind the wheel. South Dakota doesn't try and make you stay longer then you want, as evident by their speed limit, 80 mph.
80 MPH. Not sure the RV can get going that high.
