RV Trip. Ohio to CA. Travel Day 5

Mt. Rushmore
Got up and backtracked to Mt. Rushmore about 30 minutes and got a chance to visit the memorial. The avenue of flags was listed as under construction, but thankfully it was open, and we were able to make the walk up the walkway between all the flags and to the viewing areas.

The kids seemed to enjoy it.

Visited the gift shop and had Thomas Jefferson ice cream. Yes, it was still early in the morning, but it was worth it. Probably the best vanilla ice cream I've ever had.

After that it was the long drive towards Yellowstone.

We stopped at a tiny little grocery store in a small Wyoming town, just to try it. Nothing much to report, it was just time for lunch and we needed a few drinks and things.

We started to go over the Rocky Mountains, and the RV did well, which was good. The drive through eastern Wyoming was pretty boring, not much to report. The drive through the middle of Wyoming was awesome. Big Horn National Forest was incredible. Stunning mountains and valleys, rivers, all kinds of great views and landscapes.

Playing on the jumping pillow at the KOA
We stayed at a KOA just outside Cody, WY and it was Lukas' favorite because it had a pool, jumping pillow, basketball court and playground. The staff was great too. We were on empty for the propane and thankfully got someone to fill it even though it was technically after filling hours. This turned out to be a really good thing, because as it turns out we left at 5:45 the next morning.

And since it was the 4th of July, there were plenty of fireworks going off in the field across from the campground. We got some fire wood and the kids roasted s'mores and watched the fireworks.

Another good day of adventures.
