RV Trip. Ohio to CA. Travel Day 6

We wanted to get out early because we wanted to give ourselves some time to explore Yellowstone, but also had a long drive to Twin Falls, ID to get to our Harvest Host, Snyder Winery, but 5:30 was earlier then even I thought.

But I woke up, felt good and just got up. I had already dumped the tanks and filled the water the night before so the pack up only took about 15 minutes and we were on the road, 5:45 a.m.

IF I ever do this vacation again, or give advice to anyone thinking about doing it, I'll spend a little time exploring Cody, WY. It was a cool looking town, and at that hour it was easy enough to drive slow and look around.

After exiting the town, we drove along a river and again the landscape was amazing to view.

We entered the Eastern Yellowstone gate, and began the drive through the park. It didn't take long before we saw cars pulled off to the side take photos of something in a field. Turned out to be a bear and an eagle. We saw plenty of wild life, buffalo, chipmunks, moose, and deer.

We just missed seeing Old Faithful when we first drove up, so we went down the road about 10 minutes to see the rainbow hot springs. We did the quick 15 minute walk and then returned to Old Faithful to watch the geyser blow. It was pretty cool, but what made it even cooler, was the fact that a buffalo was walking in the area right around the geyser, kind of the perfect photo to capture Yellowstone.

We then finished the drive through Yellowstone. And here's another piece of advice. Just outside the Western gate, in Western Yellowstone is a town that is all Yellowstone, all the time. Every souvenir you could imagine, and plenty of places to eat, get gas, etc. Had I know, I would have stopped and done lunch there, but I had no idea, so it was out of Wyoming, into Montana and into Idaho.

Idaho was hot, and not nearly as nice to look at as some of the previous states.

We arrived at our Harvest Host location, Snyder Winery. We settled in, did a wine tasting and bought some bottles of wine. The host does dinner, but we thought it was only Friday or Saturday night. Had we known it was any day we would have made reservations to eat. Overall the location is nice and relaxing, a good day to what may turn out to be our last.

The plan for tomorrow is to head towards Santa Clara, and see how far we get. I want to get to at least Reno, Loomis would be a little bit of a stretch, and the whole way to Santa Clara would be our longest drive of the vacation. We'll see where we end up.
