It's a White (Day After) Christmas

As usual the month of December flew by. The kids finished the school semester, including Ellie's first round of high school finals. Stephanie organized lots of fun activities during the month for the kids, including our usual Christmas traditions -- Holiday Train in Santa Cruz, Drive Through Christmas Lights in San Jose, Christmas Card photos at Vasona, a visit to see Santa at the Mall, our Christmas (which this year we made Murder Mystery themed), Mom and Daughter Cookie Baking Day and an early Christmas Dinner at Grandma Flo's.

We attended Mass on Christmas Eve with mom and dad. Had a turkey dinner. Then spent the evening finalizing the wrapping and everything.

Christmas morning had Lukas getting up at his usual 7:00 am, but that was after he woke up in the middle of the night and took a shower since he said he couldn't sleep. So he showered at 2:00 a.m. and then went back to sleep.

We had a great time opening gifts highlighted by Ellie getting new catcher's gear, Lukas getting his 1st baseman's glove and a punching bag, and an Apple Watch for Steph. I was clearly on Santa's nice list as a Traegor and a nice bottle of whiskey found it's way under the tree for me.

So where does the white Christmas come from? We are now up at the lake and it's covered in snow, deep snow. Plus, very cold. So cold the lake is starting to freeze. You can tell because of the islands of snow accumulating on the lake.

The main house was a bit chilly when we arrived, but we fired up the pellet stove and that kicked the temperature up to the mid 60s pretty quick. The kids are having a great time, Lukas even loves the shoveling part.
