This was an unplanned trip, but we ended up having a free Saturday and the A's were playing the Red Sox in an afternoon game. Cesar and his family were set to go, but Isela and Olivia couldn't make it, so Lukas and I took their spot.
It was an easy, and familiar, drive up 880 and an exit on Hegenberger Rd. in Oakland.
Seats in the covered area of 209, which were great. They would have been perfect if it was a hot day because they were fully covered.
As one of the two "home" stadiums, we didn't walk around much, but Lukas did get his logo baseball, which has been his go-to souvenir at these ballparks. He had some chicken tenders, I had a burger. I almost went with the Colossal Dog which has been a staple since I first went to A's game, but I just wasn't feeling it today.
The stadium certainly shows its age, and with the A's ownership looking to move, not much it taken care of. So certainly near the bottom of my stadium rankings. The good thing is the aisles are wider than Dodger stadium and you can get in and out of your seat if needed. Outside of that, not a whole lot to mention. Oh, the manual scoreboard in the outfield is always a fun throwback.
As for the baseball, it was all Red Sox and the A's were pretty tough to watch today. They were shutout 8-0 and only managed 5 hits, brutal! The best thing for the A's was it was their biggest crowd of the year, over 17,000.
But, it was a checkmark for stadium #3 for Lukas since he got his Baseball Journal. So the countdown continues.
