We got up and out of Detroit around 9:00, and set our sights south.
South into Ohio, down the western part of the state, through Toledo, Bowling Green and Dayton and finally into Cincinnati and through Cincinnati. The 'Nati is right on the border of Kentucky and Ohio, and our hotel was across the Ohio River in Northern Kentucky, so check another state off the visit list.
We checked in, bummer that this hotel didn't have a pool because it was crazy humid and a dip in the pool would feel pretty good.
I had found a BBQ place (Smoke Juist) that was highly recommended so we went their for lunch, and it was good. Fried pickles, brisket, pulled pork were all good. The corn bread was awesome! Collard greens and potato salad were also good, a little more on the vinegar side opposed to the mayo side, good but different.
Back to the hotel for a quick power nap then back across the river to Great American Ballpark. Lukas got his souvenir ball and the Elly De La Cruz jersey that was his birthday gift. The bad part, Elly was taking the day off, so all the way to Cincinnati to see him play and we didn't get to see him. Super bummer.
The stadium was really nice. We got great seats for $50 each, about 12 rows from the field down in RF. Reds got the win thanks to 3 HRs, a guy got plunked after one of the HRs so the pitcher got tossed, then the coach got tossed, so it was a game full of action.
We took Lyft back to the hotel and showered off since it was so humid. Watched a little tv and planned out Tuesday.
We'll see how it all comes together.
