Onto our final state, Pennsylvania.
Out of Cleveland, through Youngstown and down into Pittsburgh. It was a good drive, through mostly green farmland.
We got to our hotel in downtown Pittsburgh, Westin Pittsburgh. We settled in and walked across the street to a recommended taco place. It was good, kind of upscale tacos, so not like a regular taco. There were different flavor tortillas, salsas, etc. It was good. Might have been the most produce we had in a week.
The plan was to let the boys go swimming, however it was going to be tough to swim without a pool. It probably worked out for the best as we got some e-bikes right outside the hotel and went riding all around Pittsburgh. We went to PNC to see where the baseball game was going to be. We went to the Three Rivers Triangle, the coming together of the Allegheny and the the Monongahela to form the Ohio River. We also went over to where the Steelers play. Rode across the Roberto Clemente Bridge. Saw the Mister Rogers Memorial. A statue of Art Rooney. Jason Aldean's restaurant. It was a really cool ride all around the Pittsburgh water front.
We rode all the way until the gates opened at PNC.
Walked the stadium and Lukas got his souvenir baseball and a Pirates hat. The game ended up being the best baseball we'd seen. An inside the park home run (really a triple and error) to start the game, followed by back-to-back-to-back HRs. It was 5-0 D-backs before the Pirates even came to bat.
It went back and forth, the Pirates scored 6 to take the lead later in the game. Arizona took back the lead. Pirates tied it. Arizona then took the lead for good and the game ended 9-8 with the tying run on 2nd. So a fun game to end the trip.
Side note, Lukas ended up with 2 foul balls. One, a guy a couple rows back caught it and was looking to pass it to a kid and tossed it to Lukas. The 2nd, Lukas had gone down to the ball boy and asked if he could get one if the ball boy ended up with one. And the ball boy agreed, so when he got one he gave it to Lukas between innings. Great souvenirs!!
We then found some more e-bikes and rode back to the hotel. Downtown Pittsburgh was pretty happening. Lots of restaurants and bars that looked really fun and cool. Just a really cool vibe. Pittsburgh again did not disappoint.
